Dear Members of TB Europe Coalition,
My term of office as the Executive Director of TB Europe Coalition comes to an end on July 31, 2020. Let me thank all of you for your collaboration! Your support, activism, and drive for positive change to make the world free of TB made a valuable contribution to the growth and sustainability of our network and was a source of inspiration to me throughout these years.
Established in 2009 as an informal initiative group, TBEC was officially registered in 2017. Now our network has been increasingly perceived as the voice of the civil society across the WHO Europe Region. Through the years of my service, I was glad to see the growing impact of civil society and TB communities in TB response, strengthened intersectoral partnership, and change in approaches to TB care with the people-centered perspectives recognized as the core in service delivery.
Still, the fight with TB is not over, and people living with TB continue to suffer stigma, injustices, and barriers in access to care. With joint efforts between all stakeholders, much is yet to be done to bring policy and structural change to ensure that there is access to quality and affordable medicines, right care, and social support are in place, and financial protection for people affected by tuberculosis is secured.
TBEC continues working to advance human-rights based and people-centered models of TB care, supporting civil society and TB communities in the important advocacy role at the national and international levels. Together, we will make a difference.
With my transition, I would like to share that Yuliia Kalancha, currently TBEC Advocacy and Policy Manager will take over as the Acting Director of TBEC from August 01. Yuliia is a highly-skilled, capable, and committed professional who will support further network’s progress in achieving its core mission – to ensure civil society drives the TB response.
With sincere gratitude and best wishes,
