Screen Shot 2018-01-08 at 10.38.32On 19-20 December, TBEC via one of its member organisation Global Health Advocates, co-chaired the newly enlarged EU Civil Society Forum on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Hepatitis. Hosted by the European Commission, the Forum was focusing solely on HIV/AIDS until 2017. Global Health Advocates, as a representative of TBEC, was elected as co-chair of the Forum with 4 other organisations: the European AIDS Treatment Group, AIDS Action Europe, Correlation Network and the Eurasian Harm Reduction Association. It gathers 40 civil society organisations from across EU Member States and neighbouring countries as well as the European Commission, EU and UN health agencies.

During its second meeting, the Forum has worked on a 3-year strategy and work plan and exchanged on latest developments in prevention and treatment of the three diseases in the European region. The Forum aims to informally advise the European Commission as well as the Member States Think Tank on its strategy on infectious diseases, discuss issues of Transition and Sustainability of TB and HIV responses further to donor withdrawal of the region, as well as the organisation and strategy around international and regional conference and policy gatherings on HIV/AIDS, TB and Hepatitis.
